You were a great human being.

I have never met you in real life...I only saw your video, read your blog but I miss you.

I will try to live what you taught in the last lecture...I promise!

Your fan.

ITBHU becomes IITBHU

The news that thousands of ITBHUites had been waiting for is out...The Union Cabinet gave its much due approval for lot of strategically important news related to professional education in India...but the piece that brought a smile to me and thousands of other ITBHUites was following...

3. In principle approval for taking over the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University – a constituent unit of the Banaras Hindu University, a Central University, its conversion into an Indian Institute of Technology and integrating it with the IIT system in the country.
Click here to read the complete announcement

Well, let me be very frank with you...the news may not be strategically important to me now... to me - after all I have been passed out of the college some 5 years and now the industry knows me more for what I am doing and what I will do ...but still its a different thing that...

1. I got my current job after my boss was intrigued of the fact that what was I doing in life after having graduated from ITBHU...

2. My boss himself is from ITBHU...

3. My brother from ITBHU....

4. I have had to reason lot of times to lot of people that ITBHU is a great institute

5. When Roorkee became IIT - this somehow resulted into a sort of degradation of the college as the sudden IIT brand attached to Roorkee pulled lot of talent to it which usually used to go to ITBHU

6. Lot of times - many of us - ITBHUites - had to put a line in resume - passed out of ITBHU - part of the IIT JEE - most prestigious and tough engineering competition to pass through on Earth...not because we did not believe in "ITBHU" brand but becuase "IIT" brand sweeps all other education brands in India (or the whole world?)

Still the news is important to me...

I am a branding person...I play an important role in brand building of a $4.9 Billion Enterprise...I know what it means to have a power brand...IIT is no doubt a power brand...and ITBHU is a great brand...I wonder what will happen now...when both brands come together...

But more importantly - I would like to tell all ITBHUites...friends...our testing times have arrived...we have to now work even harder...to prove that we will continue to do the great works...believe me it will be now much easier for us to show the work we had been doing for so many years to the WORLD...

I remember slogan of the t-shirt that I have still preserved in my bag - a memorabilia of ITBHU....

Hey ITBHUite - go ahead...set the world on fire and WE will take the BLAME....

Congrats to you...ITBHUite - (or IITBHUite :)

The Secret Man - The Story of Watergate's Deep Throat

I had always wondered about Watergate scandal and I got a chance to clear some air about the mysteries in this book...though the book primarily deals with the main character who supplied Bob and Carl (the Washington posts journalists who played a major role in bringing out the crime and abuses under President Nixon's time)...and whoa! what a solid man the guy is...you have to read the book to see the entire episode from his perspective...

It reads like a true revealing book of the main character behind the scandal - who was the guy who made it all possible? why did he not come out in the open...

Somehow after reading the book - Mark felt has been etched in mind as a truly mastermind and a genius spy...I wish If i could sit and talk to him...though the book tells that he is now suffering from memory loss and is about 90 years but still...

if you are not into the politics then I would strongly recommend you read the book with below list handy - there are so many characters in the book that you may lose the thread if you don't keep these handy...
  1. J. Edgar Hoover - Founding Director (FBI)
  2. E. Howard Hunt - Former CIA and White House consultant
  3. G.Gordon Liddy (Jr.) - Former FBI Agent
  4. W. Dean III - White House counsel
  5. Donald H. Segretti - political operative for the Committee to Re-elect the President
  6. Herbert W. Kalmbach - President personal lawyer
  7. Howard Simon - Washington Post's managing editor (then)
  8. Elsa Wash - Bob's wife
  9. Benjamin C. Bradlee - Former Washington Posts' executive editor
  10. John Dean and Leonard Garment - Nixon's lawyers for Watergate
  11. CREEP - Acronym for Committee for the re-election of President
  12. John N. Mitchell - Attorney general & Head of CREEP (then)
  13. Judy Hoback - Creep' bookkeeper
  14. Dita Beard - Washington lobbyist for International Telecom
  15. L. Patrick Gray III - Acting FBI Director
  16. W. Mark Felt - Acting associate director of FBI ; Deep Throat
  17. James McCord - Presumed lawyer of the 5 burglars of Watergate & salaried security coordinator for CREEP
  18. 4561414 - White House contact number (I have not tried so dont know if this still is ...)
  19. Charles Colson - Nixon's special counsel
  20. 17th June 1972 - Burglary happened
  21. Stanlee Pottinger - associate Attorney General heading the civil rights division
  22. Fred Weisberger - student of Turlock, California who speculated who "Deep Throat" was in his master's thesis
  23. Frank Willis - the security guard @ Watergate - died of brain tumor at age of 52
Overall - a good read to know the man who was the whistle blower of century's biggest political scandal....

Shades of Pink...

Girls love Pink!...so much so a famous showroom in Connaught Place in Delhi had all the shades possible of pink at display on mannequins...
I wonder if pink color had been associated with the fair gender for ages ...in that case...I can see

Radha in pink suit wooing krishna...
Sita in pink Sari sitting in Ashok Vatika...
Razia Sultan / Laxmi Bai in pink armor fighting...
Madhubala in pink sari sitting in car with Kishore Kumar

And then a modern girl - Aakriti in pink t-shirt working on her laptop :)

A "fancy"ful thought...

Sometimes something creates an impression in our minds.

And there are times when some things make you think.

Has it ever happened with you that you want to just live in a dream. A dream which does not exist...a dream which is not even a reality ...but something you can just crave for?

Has it ever happened that while you are engrossed in the worldly affairs...your mind is somewhere else...meandering in an abyss full of thoughts ...and so brimful of dreams?

Has it ever happened to you that you start disliking your milieu (which you liked so much just a few moments ago) and that too just on a fancy?

Have you ever felt the loudness of a subtle thoguht which just creeps in mind very casually?

Well I have ...and I am overwhelmed

Oil prices to go up further...

CNN reports " Saudi Arabia says no oil production boost" ...

And just a month back they had met and stated that they would be trying to start production to maximum capacity of 11 million barrels a day....

I guess gas prices are going to increase higher...

I will start walking now ....
