Surprise for her...

I had been thinking hard to gift a special gift to Aakriti on the wedding...and then I did this...

I got designed a billboard right in front of Allahabad railway station...with a special message for her ...

Latest News - Getting married…

Well…I am not quite good in breaking news so let me tell the news without much hoopla - I am getting married to Aakriti on 6th December
Details of marriage could be gathered here Aakriti and I met during our post graduation and we complemented each other quite well…me being brash and cantankerous and she literally and figuratively acted as "better half" by being calmer and more patient…so we mutually agreed that she needs to be the "better half" for my life as well… Lot has been said about love and love marriage and I want to refrain from all that…in simple words…Aakriti knows how to fill colors to my thoughts and hence enable me "to dream" – if today I am a "successful dreamer" then she is quite well the raison d'etre of all my dreams…

Aakriti – looking forward to have a great life with you…

HCL presents "Political Debate on US Presidential Election"...

I had been following the US debate for last 8 months and I was so happy when I was told we are to have a political debate in New Delhi ...

We did the political debate yesterday in The Oberoi, New Delhi ...

Watch the Curtain-raiser AV...

Richard called the AV as very MTVish  and he wished he and Neson had brought their boxing gloves :)...

Thats me with Abhishek on right on the podium I think that entire place was looking nice ! Shiv Nadar addressing the public... Jehangir S. Pocha starting the debate...
Nelson W. Cunningham (Advisor - Barack Obama) & Richard Burt (Advisor - John McCain)
Shiv Nadar in discussion with Dr. P Chidambaram
In all, it was a great experience...

Now the big question...whose side am I? Well...like Jehangir mentioned in the last - Both are so capable with their own positives and negatives, that it actually does not matter...:) (I know I know that is a diplomatic answer ;)

13 Tzameti - (8/10)

13 Tzameti (Tzameti means 13 in Georgian language, native of the director) is a thrilling sensational movie which will pace up your hearts for 88 minutes the movie will last!

The story is about a 22 year old Sebastian (played by George Babluani), who is a worker in a house to earn living for his poor family. Then one day the owner of the house dies because of his morphine intake and by chance (or mischance), Sebastian gets hold of a mail with a ticket and hotel bills for the owner.

Sebastian decides to go in his place as he understands there are lot of monies at stake and he decides to take his chance...he least expected that his chance will land him up in a roulette game where 13 men arrange themselves in a  circle and shoot themselves off...and Sebastian gets to be the 13th person...

The movie, by Géla Babluani, is in black and white to curtail down the blood but in my view it adds up to the thrill even further...blackness in the movie makes each and every second full of such abyss of…

Happiness and Sadness are mirror images!

Have you ever noticed that its so tough to differentiate between dusk and dawn? is there something that nature is trying to teach us by their example?  This is the thought which struck in my mind once I saw the above picture by Nazli Yilmaz Bolat
Dawn and Dusk are nothing but like matter and antimatter - part of each other...neither can survive without the other , actually neither can exist without the other and will lose its existence...
Is it not exactly the case with happiness and sorrow in our lives?
In fact, they bear the same relationship with life - happiness will lose the exuberance attached to it if there would be no sadness...and at the same time- if there would be no happiness but only sadness - people will lose the motivation to live life because there would be no reason to live life!

A small journey in train...

I had to take a very quick trip to Gwalior , where my sister stays with my brother in law and 2 naughtiest but sweetest kids...and since train is the most convenient trip between Delhi to Gwalior - I had a chance to travel  in train alone after a long long time...and wow! I am feeling so good after a long long time...here is why? :)

Train journeys have always been like a rejuvenating trip to garden for me...I like to sit in silence and watch out in the greenery and think about special people who fill my life...moments which have given me the toughest time and the best time in my life so far...those 5-6 hours of journey in the train act as a purgation and meditation time for me...weeding out certain thoughts and trying to fill the mind with plans and dreams of future...

Sitting inside the train - I often observe people...try to live their life...husband and wife trying to soothe a crying baby ...a young fellow trying to win over a lady, a guy (me!) lost in thoughts of someone so much .…

UTVi News Blooper- How "NOT TO USE" Google in Internet Campaign!

As a brand marketer, I have often debated and hailed Google's Adsense program, SEM/SEO, etc with so many agencies, fellow brand managers...and how it can help reaching out to customers you really want to...

I think the Adsense program is really great but what is critical, when a brand is using it in its campaign, is to continuously monitor how your campaign is doing...its basic difference from banner (Web 1.0) mode of advertising on it being very very dynamic!
A recent example of this is UTVi news campaign... what I see in my regular mail blast of NYT is a news from 24th September about  Large Hadron Collider being closed and the ad in Google section is still talking about 10th September, Wednesday when it started!
It saddens me to say but brand marketers still need to understand and make use of SEO and SEM effectively...

Meaning of life lies in our death…Can you feel it?

I had a terrible day today...nothing seemed to be going my way ...it was one of those days when you have to curl back into your own self and just be patient for the day to pass...

I decided to do that...was in control of myself and then I got a mail from Dailiywriting tips of their new website...

Their topics touched my senses and decided to write on the topic- The Meaning of Life -

Look forward for your comments and ratings on the website -

Imagine you are dying…right now…what do you see? Whom do you think about? Do you see those eyes which made you love life? What do you smell? But most importantly how do you feel?
Have you ever studied how a baby behaves? If she does not get something – she cries…but a mother can very easily focus her attention on something else and she gets content with the new thing. The baby, thus, forgets what she was earlier craving for…there is insinuations for meaning of life the…

Romancing with clouds...

Yesterday, while I was coming back after a lunch interaction with couple of MBA students, I noticed that it was such an ideal sunny cloudy day for cloud watching...I was also not well with fever and bad throat but the moment I saw the clouds above I forgot everything...

I wish I had the camera with me but still I managed to take some pictures by my phone...

It was so relaxing watching clouds playing hide and seek with Sun...it was dark one moment and it was sunny the other moment...

Somehow I always beleive that clouds are never given its due honor...but I love watching clouds and trying to decode or understand what they stand for...I love watching clouds formation and trying to interpret them...it somehow relaxes me a lot...why don't you try it yourself next sunny cloud day?

Do you love yourself?

Sometimes, we all feel like we don't exist , well metaphorically, what we actually mean in those times is that we have ceased to make any big bang in and around us and therefore we have ceased to exist.

There are high times and there are low times in our life...the post is not about whether its right to feel like that or not .

Its about when we become critical of ourselves and start admiring others - that is injurious...that does not only harm an individual but also conjures a lot of illness to her brains because it starts feeling sub-ordinate...

Consider these two cases -

lady A- Woke up on Sunday morning and this is her schedule -

 6:00 am - Wakes up
6-8 am - Yoga, Prayer and meditation
8 am- Cooks breakfast for the family
8-11 am - Indulges herself in a book
11am -13:00 pm - Cooks her favorite lunch for herself and her husband
13:00pm - 16:00pm - Time for Sunday siesta
16:00-21:00 - Outing with husband and dinner
21:00 - 23:00 - Catches a movie on World Cinema and sleeps

Big Boss - Big Goof-up!

In the contest of Rakhi v/s Rahul Mahajan to be turned out of Big Boss home , a rare oddity was observed....

The official website of the serial mentioned at about 10:20 pm (date - 29Aug08) that Rakhi is evicted while just above the news, a placeholder reflected a banner for voting for them...

And at 11:10pm - same day the placeholder was replaced with Coming Soon! flash...

Being a brand marketer myself...I think its a serious goof-up announcing news on Internet before TV which is mainstream media for the show.

Consider this...advertisers who have placed ads between the show - just because the elimination day is supposed to have higher TRPs would have found thousands of viewers switching off the TV since they already know the  result - like me and my family - we switched channels once we knew who has won!...thousands of monies would mean millions of rupees ..considering the high rate of a 10 seconder on the show

Colors is a nice channel and is from Viacom 18 - who is a great marketer.…

BluePont - Cool mobile dating application based on your location...

Just read on Sociable Blog "Ever wondered if someone around the corner might be interesting to meet but you would never know? Ever felt like striking a conversation with a guy/girl in the elevator but it just did not happen? Makers of one of the coolest mobile social networking applications – BluePont – have now made it all possible." Mobile phones today are growing at breakneck speed in India ...with about 9 Million users added in July 2008!  and with the youth population around 60% of India's population, I think the product has very good prospect in India as well... Dating, has always been, and will always be important...just like love has been an ingredient in all movies - dating is the spice of every body's life... Combining mobile phone and dating gives us a killer - dating while being on mobile phone - which I am sure is craze in every country...And I think BluePont's technology is pretty good in mobile dating - They maintain privacy and connect people which i…

Role that MBA education should play...

Lot of people have been asking / discussing and debating with me whether an MBA from IIM A or SP JAIN makes sense...I decided to write a post on topic which is very relevant today...when the going has gotten tough and there is urgent need for all of us to mark a difference from milions of other students...

Harvard Business School or IIM Ahmedabad or Amity or IIPM?
I am not talking about your salary here...but let me put it this way...if you want a career (and not a job!) then it does not matter at all...What is more important is what you do with the education you have got in the B School and also in your attitude...Just try to think of the name of the person (in real life) who has actually impressed you...chances are that person may not be actually an MBA or if he is - you may not remember his MBA school...

Students are so much bothered while selecting schools - yes, its right to do so...And you should lose your night sleep over it...but what I don't appreciate is even after havin…

Eye in the Sky (8/10)

A totally thrilling movie for a perfect Sunday...so much so that I got scolding from my girl friend for not taking her phone...

The movie actually depicts story around character called Piggy (codenamed in the intelligent services) - who has just joined the surveillance unit of Hong Kong. The unit is trying to catch the trail of burglars of jewelery store ...quite unlike other HK movies like Infernal Affair - there is not much blood and gore in the movie.

Piggy is played by beautiful Kate Tsui - (Miss Honk Kong 2004) and she has done a fairly good performance - showing her amateurishness for a new joinee in force and yet oozing out with confidence in the last scene - I loved the way Piggy is nurtured by Dog faced - played by Simon Yam ( A Brilliant HK veteran actor) ...The lead in the negative role is played by "Big Tony" of Hong Kong film industry and he has done a brilliant performance...he is the man in control with his power and can be quiet vicious when he wants...his p…

La Spagnola (English - The Spanish Woman) (6/10)

La Spagnola reflects upon lives of Lola and Lucia - mother and daughter - both , in a way, suffer because of loving (in their own way) - Ricardo - husband of Lola and Father of Lucia. Lola loved him so much - but never showed and was always fighting with him for better life while Lucia loved him without any expectations and too suffers from him , when one day he decides to leave both of them for an Australian cool headed blond. All hell loose for mother and daughter duo - as they were financially dependent on Ricardo.

Director , Steve Jacobs, has not led his prejudices come in putting the characters out for viewers - and as a viewer you are left to form any impression about the characters.
Ricardo has been shown to be a superfluous guy who is only interested in flesh and nothing else.Lola - though loves her husband but throughout the movie she comes across as a cacophonous and belligerent - fighting with her husband.Lucia - 13 year old girl - ugly duckling - who has to survive death …

Les Chevaliers du ciel (English - Sky Fighters) (8/10)

I happen to see this movie by chance...it was Independence day and we wanted to go out and watch some movie...with other options being typical masala movies like "Singhh is King" and "God Tussi Great Ho" , we decided to settle for this French movie. So there we were in Select City Walk with the tickets of this unknown movie.
A quick search on Google told me that it is a "French Thriller" movie...and I had no idea that I was in for such a great surprise...
The movie revolves around two pilots - Captains Marchellia and Fahrenheit - Marchellia had to shoot down a demo Mirage which has been brought to Farnborough Airshow - and this ultimately results into their expulsion from Services. Subsequently they get a chance to work on a secret mission and fight off the terrorists and save Paris. While watching the movie - I was often reminded of Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun but this one differs from Top Gun as most of the shots in the movie has been shot in air while Top…

The Five people you meet in Heaven

Writing complicated thoughts simply is the biggest jewelry of any writer.  And Mitch is a goldsmith by this standard. He knows what it is to feel the writing and it is expressed in each and every line he writes...when you  read his book it feels as if someone is narrating you story but then when you raise your eyes to look around for the person there is none...

What remains after reading this book of his is...thoughtful serenity - you will start looking at most of things which fill your everyday of life - useless! ...you would rather start thinking about those people whom you want to give importance but have not been able to do so...in a hope of meeting them in heaven...

I believe - a book which can compel me to run directly from my office just to finish the book - is a great book :)...I finished it in 2 days when I was terribly busy in office and had to wake up till 3am during weekdays...simply put - I loved the book...

Book starts with THE END of a person called Eddie - and captures…

Looking at Technology from the eyes of people @ Bottom of Pyramid

My current discussion with an extremely brilliant person in the fields of consumer behavior regarding  "Role technology is playing for the people at the bottom of the pyramid" - i.e.for people who earn daily wages like Auto rickshaw people, washerwoman, courier boy - is yes like a fairy tale story...
Never before it would have happened that I send an sms to my maid servant on what want to have breakfast in the morning and she comes prepared with vegetables etc...or I just call up my vegetable wala and I get fresh vegetables on Saturday morning....truly fantastic...

But this is the second time it has happened in India...first was STD boom - Thanks to Sam Pitroda...when Lakhs of jobless Indians got jobs by opening up STD booths across hundreds of cities...But yes Mobile penetration had not been such deep-rooted like this before...though I strongly believe STD Booth boom was no doubt the first version of the success which has led to today's Phase 2 story....because that intr…

The Secret - Rhonda Byrne

I don't like a "self-help" book - but I got curious with this book as this book had been doing quite good in States and raking up quite good ranking. I got curious and thus decided to read this one.

I did not like the book much - I already know what the basic tenet the book has harped in more than 150 pages (and there is a movie as well!!!)

The Book talks about 'Being Optimistic" - we need to think that we can do anything because of "Law of Attraction" -
The "Law of Attraction" principle posits that feelings and thoughts can attract events, from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs.Summary is - If you think you can do it - you will be able to anything else NO!

If you want someone to fall in love with you - first love yourself - since like attracts like - if you are not happy or content with yourself how will any other person be?  If you don't send out I AM WORT…

A trip to Greater Noida

On the weekend I made my first trip to visit Greater Noida to visit an old friend from ITBHU...I loved the scenery on the way to Greater Noida...it was a great weather...raining...and I love to bike when it rains...

Randy Pausch is dead...

We all knew he would die...and that he had very less time...
He died today.
But Randy, you will always live in our hearts, in our minds, in our souls. You were a great human being.
I have never met you in real life...I only saw your video, read your blog but I miss you.
I will try to live what you taught in the last lecture...I promise!

ITBHU becomes IITBHU

The news that thousands of ITBHUites had been waiting for is out...The Union Cabinet gave its much due approval for lot of strategically important news related to professional education in India...but the piece that brought a smile to me and thousands of other ITBHUites was following...

Well, let me be very frank with you...the news may not be strategically important to me now... to me - after all I have been passed out of the college some 5 years and now the industry knows me more for what I am doing and what I will do ...but still its a different thing that...

The Secret Man - The Story of Watergate's Deep Throat

I had always wondered about Watergate scandal and I got a chance to clear some air about the mysteries in this book...though the book primarily deals with the main character who supplied Bob and Carl (the Washington posts journalists who played a major role in bringing out the crime and abuses under President Nixon's time)...and whoa! what a solid man the guy is...you have to read the book to see the entire episode from his perspective...

It reads like a true revealing book of the main character behind the scandal - who was the guy who made it all possible? why did he not come out in the open...

Somehow after reading the book - Mark felt has been etched in mind as a truly mastermind and a genius spy...I wish If i could sit and talk to him...though the book tells that he is now suffering from memory loss and is about 90 years but still...

if you are not into the politics then I would strongly recommend you read the book with below list handy - there are so many characters in the book …

Shades of Pink...

Girls love Pink!...so much so a famous showroom in Connaught Place in Delhi had all the shades possible of pink at display on mannequins...I wonder if pink color had been associated with the fair gender for ages ...in that case...I can see
Radha in pink suit wooing krishna... Sita in pink Sari sitting in Ashok Vatika... Razia Sultan / Laxmi Bai in pink armor fighting... Madhubala in pink sari sitting in car with Kishore Kumar
And then a modern girl - Aakriti in pink t-shirt working on her laptop :)

Disclaimer - Just a comic post - hope no historian or whomsoever minds it :)

A "fancy"ful thought...

Sometimes something creates an impression in our minds.

And there are times when some things make you think.

Has it ever happened with you that you want to just live in a dream. A dream which does not exist...a dream which is not even a reality ...but something you can just crave for?

Has it ever happened that while you are engrossed in the worldly affairs...your mind is somewhere else...meandering in an abyss full of thoughts ...and so brimful of dreams?

Has it ever happened to you that you start disliking your milieu (which you liked so much just a few moments ago) and that too just on a fancy?

Have you ever felt the loudness of a subtle thoguht which just creeps in mind very casually?

Well I have ...and I am overwhelmed

My Birthday - June 12

I had my birthday in June - this time it was a sleepy birthday as I wanted to rest ...but what made my day was two cakes and one life time gift from my girl friend :)

Memorable thing #1 - cake cut in office - there is one minor error in this if you can point out :)

Memorable thing #2 - cake cut at home - I could not have it as much as i wanted as I had a train journey to do :(...can I get it again or do I have to wait till my next birthday?

Memorable #3 - A photo album - which made me feel something of a superman!

Book - Age of Shiva

I had read Manil Suri's Death of Vishnu in December'05 (Post on it here) and even then I was so intrigued the way he cultures his characters. But this book - I was not impressed by anyone - I was so wrapped in the life of Meera - (The protagonist) - playing the role of mother, daughter, lover, sister, etc and each role making his life so complicated and yet when she is finally got rid of all the relationships - she feels empty.

The book has 5 chapters - each chapter makes Meera die and then reborn like a phoenix - ending of each chapter leaves you agape with what more will happen to her! and yet beginning of each new chapter somehow brings back the essence of life - HOPE...

The book succeeds in taking the reader into the roller coaster ride of relationship that still exists in the joint family that exists in India - full of "Hopelessness' and full of "Hopefullness" - full of sunrise and sunsets -

The last 4 days in which I read the book - I found myself somehow…

iPhone porn is here

Well there are some who say Internet was born for porn...and very soon people will say mobile phone was made for porn...

Sensing the start of a profitable new era for pocket porn, the adult entertainment industry is investing heavily and feverishly broadening its marketplace of iPhone porn.
The industry sees the iPhone 2.0 as having multiple advantages over the first model. For one thing, Apple's new gadget is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor at loading Web pages, and even faster at running video, which is crucial for the porn industry.About a third of iPhone users watch video on their phone, according to Nielsen Mobile, which is nearly 10 times the number that watch video on other cell phones. Three out of four iPhone users are men with above-average incomes, and iPhone users spend heavily on entertainment. More than a third of iPhone users shell out more than $100 on phone and data charges every month, as compared with just one-fifth of other cell-phone users.
Funny Funny!!…
